The New York Public Library stands as a cornerstone of knowledge and learning. The new app introduces three innovative features that reimagine the traditional library experience, inspire lifelong learning, and strengthen community connections.

PROBLEM

The New York Public Library lacks an accessible, streamlined, and personalized platform, making it challenging for users to navigate its vast, diverse content.

SOLUTION

By incorporating playful compositions, intentional visual language, and personalized tools, we can create a platform that reflects the NYPL’s mission of inspiring lifelong learning and strengthening communities.

WHY NYPL?

The NYPL app provided an opportunity to transform the traditional library experience by elevating how users engage with digital and physical tools.

We conducted market and app research, developed user personas to represent the focal audience, and organized empathy interviews to highlight user pain points.

Based on extensive research, we saw opportunity in repositioning the NYPL as more than a place to borrow books. The UX research helped identify areas for improvement and enabled quick, user-centered design decisions.
